Deskripsi
Quotes:
"How would you like your tombstone to read, Spider-Man... or Peter Parker?" ~ Alistair to Spider-Man.
"A dead end. Like your evolutionary strain. Soon your kind will be extinct. Relics! Vanished from this city without a trace!" ~ Smythe's breakdown after Dr. Connors's failed cure paralyses him, vowing to wipe out the entire cross-species race.
Dr. Alistair Smythe is the main antagonist of the 2012 video game The Amazing Spider-Man, an adaptation of the eponymous superhero film.
He is a high-ranking scientist at Oscorp Industries following the Lizard's rampage who pressures the company to dispose of the cross-species experiments and shift focus towards robotics. After being infected during the cross-species outbreak, his sanity deteriorates and devotes to "save" humanity by destroying all infected with an armada of his S-Bots, also known as the "Spider-Slayers".
He is voiced by Nolan North who also voices Kraven the Hunter in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Merasmus, Blutarch Mann, Redmond Mann and the Bombinomicon in Team Fortress 2, the Penguin and Black Mask in the Arkhamverse, Deadpool in Deadpool, Modi in God of War 2018, Hades in 2005's God of War, Dr. Edward Richtofen in Call of Duty Zombies, The Penguin in Batman Arkham series, Martin Walker in Spec Ops: The Line, David in The Last of Us, and the Black Hand of Sauron in Middle-earth: Shadow of War.
Alistair Smythe grew up as an only child in Brooklyn, New York. The son of Spencer Smythe, a single father whose work always took precedence over family, young Alistair grew up with no motherly influence as he adapted to a childhood of neglect. During his high school years, Alistair was surprised to find his father make a concerted effort to atone for his faults as a parent. Only months before dying of radiation poisoning (itself a lab accident gone awry), Spencer passed along all of his knowledge of robotics and technology to Alistair – years of research that Alistair absorbed with full comprehension in mere weeks. At Empire State University, Smythe was roommates and close friends with a young Curt Connors. The two geniuses shared a playful rivalry, frequently arguing over the merits of technology versus biology. But Smythe's beliefs were not as popular, and he lost several prominent grants to Connors. Their steadfast friendship started to show cracks.
As Smythe struggled to gain funding for his work in robotics and nanotechnology, Smythe watched Connors join the prestigious OsCorp Industries, and rapidly rise through its ranks. Jealousy began to fester in his heart. Smythe was devastated by the accident that turned Connors into the Lizard, but as fate would have it, it was also his greatest boon. After Connors’ inglorious dismissal from the company, OsCorp hired Smythe and funneled all of Connors’ resources to its new robotics division. Smythe became “the new face of OsCorp,” determined to change the world, and erase the stain of Connors’ biological freak show but Connors' legacy would not be that easy to destroy.
The Amazing Spider-Man
During the removal of the cross-species specimens, Smythe and his scientists are infected by their virus and the control of Smythe prides himself on began to slip away; his vengeance leads him to program robots to destroy cross-species who escaped the Oscorp quarantine. His greed leads him to inject himself with an untested cure, a mistake that takes the use of his legs. The order Smythe built around himself collapses into chaos but, instead of wasting time to develop a cure, he is more determined than ever to eliminate the infected, including Spider-Man. Smythe's robots cause more harm than good, and put many innocent lives at risk. He is ultimately dismissed from OsCorp and forced to take sole blame for the outbreak which fuels Smythe's rage more, as he releases his most deadly wave of robots on the city.
Spider-Man and the Lizard form an uneasy alliance to stop Smythe, and manufacture a successful cure capable of saving the city. At this point, all threats cease and the city is saved but Smythe returns to one of his robot labs in OsCorp Tower and is almost completely infected from the virus, as he is unable to get the cure. It is too late, however, and so the regretful Doctor Alistair Smythe commits suicide by way of programming one of his own hunter bots to shoot him.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Although dead, Alastair Smythe is indirectly referenced several times; first during the opening narration when Spider-Man mentions having stopped many villains since the death of Uncle Ben. Later, after defeating the Shocker and interrogating him, Schultz reveals that the Carnage Killer induced paranoia has led to an underworld arms race; lamenting that things would end with things like the Lizard and "the dude with all the robots."
Did you think I'd forget about this TASM boss? Think again. Now I bring you this great and Final boss, "who wasn't that hard" but was certainly entertaining. Anyway, put on your mask and fight this "tech freak," if I may call him that. And don't let his madness take hold or manifest in San Andreas!
